Nursery Rhymes

When we start a new topic, we plan the topic together on our Planning Board and all of the ideas the children suggest are noted and used to create exciting activites for the next 8 weeks. Below you can see our new Planning Board.

Mrs Rosca says we are P1 Superstars! We  decorated a star and we tried to see who could make the twinkliest star.

Jack and Jill-  We experienced how tricky it can be to carry a pail of water up and down a hill, without spilling a drop. We then got out our First Aid Kit to see what Jack and Jill might need after falling down the hill.

1,2,3,4,5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive... Our Year 1 goldfish is called ' Swimmy'. We discussed how fish breathe under water and labelled the parts of a fish. We then used our 'fishing rods' with magnets attached to explore the concept of magnetism.

We explored the Life Cycle of a Frog and discovered more about 'Frogs' from 'Junior NewsDesk' and Auntie Mabel and Pippin! We love singing and performing the "5 Speckled Frogs' rhyme.

Look who we found in our outdoor role play house!!!!

We had a fun week of learning about 'Spiders'. We discovered some fun facts using 'Junior NewsDesk', we created our own spiders, we went for a spider hunt and we made our own delicious 'Incy Wincy" Spiders. We explored different ways to use funnels and pipes in our water area during Play-based learning.

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary

We planted some flowers in our window boxes and we looked at some cockle shells.

We re-used milk containers as watering cans and had great fun watering the garden.

We had an awesome 'Welly boot Week'. Every day we asked the question: 'Where wil my boots take me today'?

There was an Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe

At the end of our topic we had a fun Nursery Rhyme Day!
