Nursery Rhymes

When we start a new topic, we plan the topic together on our Planning Board and all of the ideas the children suggest are noted and used to create exciting activites for the next 8 weeks. Below you can see our new Planning Board.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

We used various materials to make twinkly and  bright art work.

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water...so did we!  We realised it is actually quite tricky to come down hill without spilling the water or tripping. We moved very slowly.

We discussed options from the first aid kit for what Jack and Jill might have needed! 

We also experimented with floating and sinking.

1,2,3,4,5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive

We love Swimmy, our Year 1 fish and we enjoy taking turns to feed Swimmy.

We discovered some interesting goldfish facts using C2K Junior Newsdesk, we created and labelled our own fish and we explores magnetism using home made fishing rods.

We have been learning about the 5 Speckled Frogs.  We sang the rhyme together.

We discovered interesting facts about frogs using Junior Newsdesk and we completed the life cycle of a frog. Auntie Mabel and Pippin told us their story about 'Frogs'.

The Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly

We watched the online version of this story AND we read the big book.  We decided which one we liked best and then we sequenced the animals and made a lovely wall display.

The Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe

The old woman had lots of children living in her shoe. We explored what it might be like to be a refugee, in simple terms. We sorted our 'Wants' and 'Needs'  and discovered what it might be like to all fit into one house!
