P7 McN have been focusing on the topic of ‘Refugees’ and learning why people are often forced to leave their home countries. The pupils were delighted to welcome ‘Irena’ who had taken up residency in Northern Ireland with the Hodgins family as her sponsor when war broke out in Ukraine. The P7’s found out a lot about life in Ukraine before and during the war and were interested to hear Mrs Hodgins’ experience of being a sponsor. A truly memorable and insightful experience for our pupils. Many thanks to Mrs Hodgins and Irena for giving up their time to come and speak to the class.

As part of 'Maths Week' the P7’s took part in an online all Ireland ‘Mega Maths Quiz’ including more than 8000 pupils. They worked together in groups to problem solve and implement critical thinking across a range of numeracy concepts. The children had fun trying to justify their answers! ➗✖️➕➖😊
